Our Take:
  • Understated British Elegance: The Jaguar 420G, which made its debut in the late '60s, is often overshadowed by the more famous E-Type, but it's a gem in its own right. This luxury saloon was known for its stately presence and was considered a pinnacle of British automotive design, combining luxury with a hint of sporty performance.
  • Limited Global Presence: While the 420G was a flagship model, it wasn’t mass-produced like some of its competitors. This makes it relatively rare today, especially in good condition. Seeing one on the road is like spotting a classic British film star—they're rare but unforgettable.
  • Technical Tidbits: This model originally came with a robust 4.2-liter inline-six engine, also found in the E-Type, giving it a surprising amount of power for a luxury saloon. The mention of having two motors and transmissions suggests a potentially fascinating restoration project that could explore either original authenticity or a unique custom build.
  • Comfort with Class: Inside, drivers were treated to a cabin full of fine wood trim and plush leather—the kind of interior you’d imagine relaxing in while sipping Earl Grey. For those restoring this Jaguar, sourcing genuine or quality replica interior components can make all the difference, maintaining its aura of quintessential British luxury.
