Description

Selling my 2002 BMW E46 M3 convertible. It is a very clean car as it is originally a Texas car - the underbody is exceptionally clean! It’s in great over all shape. The rod bearings and VANOS + new exhaust sprocket hub were just done last year and I have the receipt to prove. Rod bearings were upgraded to BE bearings and ARP bolts. Water pump/thermostat, engine mounts, diff mount, oil filter housing gasket, belts and pulleys, mass air flow sensor, also done last year with receipts to prove (see ...

Our Take:
  • A true classic in the M lineup, the 2002 BMW E46 M3 convertible is a revered model among enthusiasts. Known for its iconic inline-six engine, the S54, this M3 boasts a reputation for high-revving power and impeccable driving dynamics. Even with an automatic transmission, it offers an engaging ride, though purists might raise an eyebrow until they hear about the included 6-speed manual option.
  • That Texas origin does wonders for the car's underbody condition. Cars hailing from sunnier, drier climates generally avoid the rust issues those in the northern locales endure. It might just be a convertible, but think of it as a roadster with a top — perfect for sunsets along the Pacific Coast Highway or cruising down Yonge Street.
  • Extensive maintenance history is key in any E46 M3, especially when it includes updates like rod bearings and the VANOS unit. By opting for BE bearings and ARP bolts, the owner ensured these critical components stand the test of time—common sore points for this model. Plus, with the CSL transmission tune, you're getting something that edges closer to the enthusiast's dream.
  • The inclusion of performance upgrades like Koni yellow shocks and Turner Motorsports components shows a commitment to not just maintaining but enhancing this car's legendary handling. And while the convertible top might require an encouraging nudge (let's call it a quirk), it’s a small trade-off for the open-air thrills this M3 offers. Who doesn’t love a bit of hands-on engagement, right?
