This 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible was acquired in the 1990s by the seller from its third owner (original owner was Lloyd Bridges). The car has been in storage for 24 years, and brought back to smooth driving condition in 2023. The car was restored in 1977 with a repaint to the original color (platinum) and reupholstered interior (blue). The majority of repair and service records included - starting in the 1970s. This beautiful convertible is powered by a 430ci V8 linked with a dual-range three-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with a power-operated white convertible top (hydraulic system rebuilt in 2023), power steering, power-assisted four-wheel drum brakes, polished wheel covers, new 235/75 Coker American Classic narrow whitewall tires, a power-adjustable front bench, power windows, an AM radio, and dual heater. This Continental convertible is now offered by owner in Vancouver Washington with a clean Oregon title.
Exterior details include quad headlights, rear-hinged rear doors (suicide/clamshell doors), a driver-side mirror, a retractable antenna, a Lincoln hood ornament, and chrome bumpers and trim. Minor dents/paint chips). The car was taken to a bodyshop to inspect for rust, and the shop only found minor surface rust.
After 24 years in storage, the car received a new starter, battery, brake wheel cylinders and front brake hoses, front cover seal, and new thermostat in 2023. The original fuel pump was rebuilt, as replacements cause problems for many owners/drivers. Weather stripping needs replacing under the trunk lid (weather strip included, but not installed allowing for flexibility for new owner).
Driving/Operating: The car drives incredibly smoothly, and is sure to turn heads! There is a slight twitch in the power steering when turning just off center to the right. AC mechanics work, but does not blow cold air. The car starts easily from cold - A couple cranks and off she goes! The car recently idled in the heat for over an hour and it worked beautifully.
