Description

This is now a rare classic car (Viggens were only produced 1999 and 2000). The car is in great condition, has been a hobby car with a lot of love and time put into. Engine has been refreshed in many aspects, new clutch and resurfaced clutch wheel, also new main clutch cylinder. New ECU that is tuned to give higher torque (original one also exists and is easy to switch back). New turbo, new radiator, new oil cooler, all rubber pipes and lines in the engine room replaced so no engine oil leaks. ...

Our Take:
  • Rare Swedish Performance: The 2000 Saab 9-3 Viggen is a bit of a unicorn in the automotive world. Saab only rolled out the Viggen variant for a couple of years—1999 and 2000—making it a rare find today. Inspired by the Saab 37 Viggen fighter jet, this model was a nod to Saab's aviation roots and offers a thrilling drive reminiscent of the brand’s adventuresome spirit.
  • Turbocharged Power: Equipped with a potent turbocharged 2.3-liter engine, the Viggen was one of the most powerful front-wheel-drive cars of its time. The seller mentions a new ECU tuned for increased torque, which ups the ante for any turbo enthusiast looking for some extra kick. With such detailed updates under the hood—new clutch, turbo, radiator—this car's performance enhancements certainly align with its reputation as a driver’s car.
  • A Manual Transmission Delight: Veteran drivers and enthusiasts often celebrate the connection and control that a manual transmission provides, and this Viggen fits that bill perfectly. For those who relish the tactile pleasure of a manual gearbox—especially a smooth, Scandinavian one—this vehicle offers exactly that experience.
  • A Treasure Trove for Saab Enthusiasts: The inclusion of a box of spare parts and a Haynes manual is pure gold for the DIY Saab aficionado. It’s not just a car; it’s a project waiting to be personalized. The promise of easy restoration to the original features (like swapping back the original ECU or radio) adds a layer of intrigue for enthusiasts who enjoy maintaining a classic's authenticity or experimenting with its legacy.
