Description

I’ve owned this truck for about 17yrs. I replaced the original 360 with a rebuilt long block at time of purchase, un-known mileage, still runs strong. I swapped in an aw4 o.d. Transmission with a shift kit about 5 yrs. Ago, un-known mileage, never had an issue. I replaced the wiring harness with a generic kit around the same time as the trans. Swap, no issues. Our Take:
  • A Bit of Jeep Legacy: The Jeep J10, part of the venerable Jeep Gladiator line, was produced from the early 1970s through the late '80s. By 1984, it was getting pretty rare, as Jeep was winding down its full-size truck production. It's an iconic piece of American automotive history, capturing the rugged spirit of the '80s, much like a Bruce Springsteen album.
  • Rarity and Nostalgia: The Laredo trim was typically associated with luxury or special edition models, adding a touch of class and nostalgia to this robust truck. With the original 360 engine swapped for a rebuilt long block, it's got a bit of mystery under the hood—just like a classic detective novel where you never quite know what's coming next!
  • Transmission Transformation: The AW4 overdrive transmission swap with a shift kit is like giving the truck a new lease on life. Originally, the J10 wasn't known for fuel economy, but this swap could potentially help in that department. Although, let's face it, nobody's buying this truck for MPG bragging rights.
  • Lift and Suspension Mods: With a 4-inch lift and new Bilstein shocks, this truck is ready for some serious off-road action. The combination of lift and stock 31” tires keep it rugged without going overboard, reminiscent of trail-ready classics that could tackle anything thrown their way. It's like the Swiss Army knife of trucks—practical, functional, and kinda cool.
