Description

Cool and rare car! Infiniti made these from 90-92. Was one of the first two models available stateside. This one is well taken care of with loads of receipts. That said it has a few issues. New shocks and struts, newer tires, working automatic top, cruise, power windows. Ac compressor cools but blower fan doesn’t work. Exhaust is loud up front, likely a manifold gasket. Slight misfire at idle, cam cover oil leaks. Just took it on a 600 mile round trip to Tennessee and it drove great. Alternator ...

Our Take:
  • Rarity and Historical Significance: The Infiniti M30, produced from 1990 to 1992, is indeed a rare find these days. It was one of the first two models Infiniti introduced in the U.S., alongside the Q45. Talk about making an entrance! With its limited production run and niche appeal, the M30 is a bit of a hidden gem among vintage Japanese luxury cars.
  • Engineering and Design Roots: Under the hood, the M30 shares some of its engineering DNA with the Nissan Leopard—a sleek model popular in Japan. This connection gives the M30 that quintessentially '90s fusion of performance and style, although with the automatic transmission, it leans more towards grand touring comfort than full-out sports agility.
  • Convertible Appeal: The mention of a working automatic top is a standout feature, as convertibles weren’t the norm for Infiniti at the time. Imagine cruising with the top down on a warm day, wind in your hair, and a bit of classic exhaust note breaking the silence (even if it's due to a gasket issue!). It brings a whiff of nostalgia to the driving experience.
  • Charm of Imperfections: While it does come with some quirks—like the pesky misfire at idle, oil leaks, and the apparently finicky alternator—these are part and parcel of the vintage car ownership experience. The M30’s journey over 139,000 miles, including a recent long jaunt to Tennessee, speaks to its enduring robustness. It’s got a few battle scars, but that's part of its story.
