Description

1969 Austin-Healey Sprite Mark IV right-hand drive with a clean title. I imported this vehicle from the UK in summer 2022. Previous owner did majority of the rebuild. In the last 18 months it has new tires, new seat foam bottoms, new radiator, auto electric fan and heater core as well as a new Moto Lita steering wheel. Engine is a refurbished 1275. Original vinyl top & tonneau. Two minor paint imperfections, see pics. Mileage shows 17000. Always garage kept. Very fun to drive. More pictur...

Our Take:
  • Rarity and Provenance: The 1969 Austin-Healey Sprite Mark IV is already a rare bird on American shores, and this particular one, with its right-hand drive, brings a slice of British motoring charm stateside. Imported from the UK, it retains a certain authenticity that's become increasingly hard to find—something only true enthusiasts can appreciate.
  • Engine and Performance: Equipped with the classic 1275 cc engine, which was quite a spirited performer for its time, this Sprite offers an engaging driving experience. The engine's been refurbished, promising reliability while maintaining its period-correct feel. It's not about top speeds here, but rather the joy of spirited cornering on a country road.
  • Aesthetics and Condition: With its original vinyl top and tonneau cover still intact, there's a nostalgic nod to the car’s heritage. Minor paint imperfections simply add character, akin to a well-loved pair of leather driving gloves. Plus, updates like the Moto Lita steering wheel blend classic style with modern usability.
  • Historical Significance: The Austin-Healey Sprite has a storied past, known for its friendly "Frogeye" predecessor. By the Mark IV era, it had matured with wind-up windows and better creature comforts without losing its cheeky demeanor. These cars were the quintessential British lightweight sports cars, making them icons in the classic car community.
