This particular example was imported from the United Kingdom in 1986 to Santa Cruz, California, where it was kept until till 2002. At 85,000 miles the prior owner performed much mechanical work; the heads have been off, and the pistons and rings have been replaced. The valves were ground, and the carburetors rebuilt. A comprehensive brake overhaul was performed including wheel cylinder, master cylinder and servo rebuilds. At the time the owner who purchased had the car, inspectionsof the front suspension and exhaust system were performed by a Rolls Royce expert in Marin, California. That Rolls Royce expert, well known for their award-winning detailing, were retained by the owner to perform the comprehensive detailing on the engine, compartment, and trunk areas. Cosmetically, the car is extremely nice. The interior has newer leather seating. The dash wood, headliner and interior chrome are all good. It has seen a high quality respray some years back, and stills shows well. There is no significant rust in the body or chassis. It is the Mk 6's elegant, iconic lines and eligibility for vintage tour events which makes this car such an attractive and usable classic.
