Presenting a 1957 Continental Mark 2 with surprising provenance!
This car would be home in a collection of CA history, Presidential motorcar collection, or back in a museum.
This is one of only 572 Mark IIs produced in 1957 before the Continental division was shut down. 1957 cars received an upgraded 368c.i. Lincoln Y-block with a larger cam, 10:1 Compression, dual vacuum distributor and a Carter 4 barrel carburetor. These low numbers and enhancements make 1957 cars very desirable. This car also has the only option that was available, air-conditioning.
The original owners were David and Fritzi Huntington. David’s great-uncle was Collis Huntington, one of the “big-four” of Western Railroading that built the Transcontinental Railroad. David’s father Henry Huntington founded Huntington Beach and Huntington Library, among other accomplishments. Fritzi and David were very active philanthropists in Northern California. The “Fritzi and David Huntington Environmental Education Center” in Lake Tahoe was renamed in their honor. The car comes with service records at Eisle Mercury Lincoln on Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles dating back to 1957 under Mr. Huntington’s name.
This was originally grey, but was wearing the current Deep Red paint when it resided in the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles in the 1990s, photo attached.
Peterson auctioned the car through Barrett Jackson in 2002 for $40,700. The add states that it had 300 miles on a complete restoration at that time.

The car was imported to Kuwait by Prime Minister & Sheik Nasser Al-Mohammed Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. It resided with the Sheik until he sold four Mark IIs in 2022 through Bonham’s auctions in LA and the UK. Kuwait title photo attached.
I purchased this car, #3726 was purchased in 2022 through Bonham’s.
In my care, the car has received new white wall radial tires, new steel wheels (less risk of losing hubcaps), new brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, all brake hoses, shocks, motor mounts, water pump, fuel pump, power steering pump and hoses, original style battery with hold-down, air cleaner elbow, and more that I am certainly forgetting. It starts, runs, stops, shifts and steers wonderfully. I drive it about once a week.
It isn’t perfect, but this is a car that will appreciate as you continue to perfect it.
