Our Take:
  • Embodying the Executive Sleeper: The 2001 Audi S8 is part of the D2 generation, a marvel of German engineering and subtle sophistication. In modern times, this model is often overshadowed by its more recent counterparts, but it holds a special place for those in the know—a true sleeper in executive guise with a powerful 4.2-liter V8 engine.
  • A Nod to 'Ronin': Any cinema buffs might recall the 1998 film "Ronin" where the Audi S8 flexed its muscles in thrilling car chase scenes. While the movie featured an earlier model, the D2 body style remained consistent, infusing this sedan with a touch of Hollywood coolness.
  • Luxury Meets Performance: The Alcantara interior speaks volumes about the car's premium positioning. Audi's commitment to luxury is evident with features such as the bi-xenon European headlights, which were cutting-edge back in the day, offering enhanced visibility—especially appreciated during those late-night Autobahn sprints.
  • Collector's Consideration: With 119,000 miles on the clock, this car's been driven, but the regular maintenance and thoughtful upgrades, like the ST coilover suspension and a new RS6 steering wheel, suggest a previous owner who understood the car's potential. Sure, it has a couple of quirks like the sunroof and parking sensor issues, but for aficionados, this just adds to its character.
