Description

For sale is a good running 1986 Porsche 944. I bought the car from my girlfriend's dad who owned the car for the last 20+ years. The paint is faded on the hood and roof, the dash and steering wheel leather have cracks but you can get in the car and drive. I have too many projects so figured I'd list this one for sale. NO TRADES. ...

Our Take:
  • The Porsche 944, produced from 1982 to 1991, is a quintessential example of Porsche's foray into front-engine sports cars. In the '80s, the 944 was the company's top seller and was critical to Porsche's financial stability during that period. It's a car that embodies the signature driving experience of the era with its transaxle layout optimizing weight distribution.
  • This 944 comes with a manual transmission, a feature beloved by driving purists, enhancing the car's engaging character. While automatic versions were available, the manual is often preferred for the tactile and direct control it offers, complementing the naturally aspirated inline-four engine under the hood.
  • With 173,000 miles on the odometer, this 944 has certainly been enjoyed on the road, and that's part of the charm. These cars were made to be driven, not mothballed, making their wear marks almost badges of honor. Sure, a faded hood isn't glamorous, but it tells a story of over three decades of life.
  • Despite being over 30 years old, the 944 delivers a driving feel that's considered timeless by many enthusiasts. Its handling and balance are often compared to modern sportscars, yet it offers a raw experience that today’s tech-heavy vehicles can’t quite replicate. Plus, owning a piece of Porsche history is always a conversation starter!
