Description

Very unique car, manufactured in Australia. This was my great-uncle's baby. He even wore racing gloves when he drove it! She's fast...but she's not racing-glove fast. I bought it off of his son after my great uncle passed because my son didn't have a car and he thought this was one of the "coolest old cars" he's ever seen. We bought it and have put some money into it to make sure we were comfortable letting him use it to get to work and back. He’s not comfortable with a stick in the area he live...

Our Take:
  • An Aussie Flavored American: The 1994 Mercury Capri is a bit of an anomaly, because it was actually manufactured in Australia, specifically by Ford Australia. This quirky little convertible was a unique export, aiming to capture the sporty but affordable vibe of Mazda Miatas and VW Cabriolets during the early '90s. So, if you ever wanted a "down-under" twist on American style, this is your ride.
  • Convertible with Options: The Capri comes as a convertible with a rag top, but this one includes a hard top too—a rare find! Having both options makes it more versatile; you can have the wind in your hair or the security of a hard roof, depending on your mood or the weather. Plus, the snazzy black custom cover for the back seats adds a little extra flair when you're out and about.
  • A Slice of Era-Specific Tech: Talk about a flashback—the detachable face CD stereo is a true '90s hallmark. Remember when those were the cutting-edge of car audio security and style? It might not sync with your smartphone, but it's a piece of nostalgia that pairs well with the retro vibe of the car.
  • Personal History and Enthusiast Care: This Capri has a sweet backstory, being babied by the seller's great-uncle, who even donned racing gloves when behind the wheel. It's good to know it's been cherished and given some TLC, with recent updates like a new battery and timing belts—essential for reliability. This isn't just any old ride; it's filled with family stories and automotive passion.
