Description

This V12 DB9 convertible was a "bucket list" purchase by my 83 year old Dad a couple of years ago. He can no longer safely drive it. It has been stored in a climate controlled garage under his ownership and was driven less than 1,000 miles. The engine oil and filter were changed in early 2024. It is currently on consignment at McCormick's Collector Car Auctions in Palm Springs, California. The original MSRP was about $220,000, the options being the wheels, Porsche exterior color, and the bamboo...

Our Take:
  • Exclusivity and Elegance: The 2014 Aston Martin DB9 Volante isn't just any convertible—it's a symphony of British elegance and engineering. Powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine, this vehicle embodies a sense of timeless luxury that few other cars can match. It's the kind of car that effortlessly blends into a James Bond movie scene, which, let's be honest, adds a certain flair to its appeal.
  • Limited Use and Condition: With just 16,100 miles on the odometer and having been stored in a climate-controlled garage, this DB9 is barely broken in. The fact that it’s been a "bucket list" car for an 83-year-old owner means it was probably treated with the utmost care. Its low mileage suggests that it's in exceptional condition, almost like a time capsule from the mid-2010s, offering a glimpse of luxury that hasn't waned with time.
  • Unique Custom Features: This particular DB9 Volante boasts some intriguing custom options—like the Porsche exterior color, which isn't a factory standard for Aston Martin, and the bespoke bamboo interior wood trim. These unique touches make this car a standout piece, offering more than just the thrilling drive—it’s a work of art in motion that combines diverse design influences.
  • Modern Classic Status: The DB9 Volante represents a transitional period for Aston Martin, just before they began to embrace more modern technology and hybrid engines. As such, it captures a moment when raw power and opulent design were the pinnacle of automotive achievement. It’s a model that holds its ground in the modern era, appealing to those with an appreciation for both luxury and the pure experience of driving.
